HI, I’m Gerard Castaneda. I am a third year PhD student at the Mizzou Sinclair School of Nursing where my research focus is on public health information system design and implementation.
In addition to completing my education, I manage the informatics program at the Macomb County Health Department in southeastern Michigan. In this role, I facilitate the informatics team where we aim to provide assistance and process improvement guidance to enhance how our health programs support the community. Prior to this, I served as the lead nurse at the county’s sexually transmitted infection (STI) clinic program.
The current plan for my dissertation research is to examine the use of technology and digital systems to assist in notifying individuals of their past exposure to an STI, also referred to as digital partner notification and partner services.
I am excited to bring together my past 18 years of public health experience into my PhD program of research.
